Located south
of Tarpon Springs and just north of Dunedin, Palm
Harbor offers suburban living just minutes from
the Gulf of Mexico and a short drive from the
bustling Tampa and St. Petersburg. The Palm Harbor
area also includes the towns of Ozona and Crystal
Beach. Housing
Palm Harbor’s housing market offers a wide
range of options for singles, couples and families.
There are many family -friendly neighborhoods
with a relaxed atmosphere, each of which features
historic, traditional and contemporary single
family homes as well as some townhomes and condominium
communities. There are also many apartment complexes
with a wide range of rent prices. Many housing,
condo and apartment communities in Palm Harbor
have their own beach and lake access and boat
slips. Things
To Do
Outdoor attractions and activities include Brooker
Creek Preserve, which features nature trails,
hiking trails, horse trails, education programs,
John Chesnut Sr. Park, which features, picnic
areas, lake access, dog park and nature trails
and Lake Tarpon, which is the largest lake in
Pinellas county, has several parks with boat access
and fishing piers. Also nearby is the city of
Tarpon Springs known for its history as a sponge
dock town and its large Greek population, which
is reflected in its shops and restaurants. Honeymoon
Island is just off the coast of Palm Harbor and
features quiet beaches, nature trails and is just
a ferry ride away from Caladesi Island. Golf courses
include the public Lansbrook Golf Club, Tarpon
Woods Country Club, and the private Wentworth
Golf Club and Crescent Oaks Golf Course - both
just to the north in Tarpon Springs.
Indoor entertainment includes the Muvico Palm
Harbor 10, North Pinellas History Museum, and
the nearby Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art and Tarpon
Springs Cultural Center. Dining
and Shopping
There is a wide variety of restaurants with a
broad range of cuisine including Amarit Thai Resturant,
Hooker’s Island Grill, Tuscano Grille, Vetture’s
Pizzaria, Eagles Landing Restaurant and Franz’s
Lager Haus. Of course, being close to the gulf
there are many great seafood restaurants along
the beaches.
There are two shopping plazas in Palm Harbor which
feature staple stores such as Target, CVS, several
grocery stores, salons and specialty shops. Additional
shopping in available in nearby Countryside Mall
in Clearwater and Tyrone Square Mall in St. Petersburg.
Also just 30 minutes away is the International
Plaza, which is home to such high end stores as
Burberry, Crate & Barrel, J.Crew, Gucci, Neiman
Marcus, and Nordstrom Traffic
and Driving
US Highway 19, which runs north and south is the
main highway in Palm Harbor, driving north will
take you through Tarpon Springs and into Pasco
County, while driving south will take you Dunedin
and Clearwater and allow for easy access onto
Highway 60 East over the Courtney Campbell Causeway
into Tampa.Traveling east on Tampa Road, which
becomes Hillsborough Aveneue will also take you
into Tampa. Schools
Public schools include Cypress Woods Elementary,
Highland Lakes Elementary, Curlew Creek Elementary,
Joseph L. Carwise Middle and Palm Harbor University
High. Private schools include Center Academy,
Palm Harbor Prep and the Spring Valley School.
Colleges include Eckerd-Palm Harbor and nearby
St.Petersburg College, USF-St. Petersburg, Ultimate
Medical Academy and ITT Technical Institute. The
East Lake Community Public Library serves the
community of Palm Harbor. Business
Much of Palm Harbor’s commerce is generated
by banking and investment companies, elderly care
services, health care services, hospitality and
retail stores. The city has a very involved chamber
of commerce that offers many services, resources
and fundraising events for local business owners
