New Port Richey/Port
Richey is located on the Gulf of Mexico, just
north of the Pinellas peninsula and is part of
Pasco County. This is a central location convenient
to Tarpon Springs, Clearwater and Tampa and is
only about 40 minutes from USF Tampa. This area
has many choices when it comes to housing, and
just as many for entertainment, dining and nearby
shopping malls. Housing

communities and custom estates on the water front.

To Do
There are many parks to enjoy in the New Port
Richey area including Sims Park, a five-acre park
with amphitheater, 80 acre James E. Grey Preserve
Park and the 8300 acre Jay B. Starkey Wilderness
Park. There is also the Suncoast Bike Trail for
biking, roller blading, walking and jogging. Several
other parks and recreation facilities offer fishing
piers and boat access to the gulf.
Golf courses include the public Seven Springs
Golf Course, Timber Greens Country Club, Magnolia
Valley Golf Club, Summertree Golf Course and River
Ridge Golf Club.
Indoor activities include the Regal Hollywood
18 movie theater, Cinema 6 movie theater, and
the Richey Suncoast Theatre which hosts community

and Shopping
Downtown New Port Richey offers a number of specialty
shops, spas and restaurants including Juan’s
La Tropicana del Sol, Leaning Tower of Pizza,
Thai Bistro, Vincenzo’s Italian Restaurant
and more. Gulfview Square Mall in New Port Richey
features Dillard’s, Sears, JC Penney’s
and Macy’s as well as 100 other specialty
stores. Also nearby are the shops at Wiregrass
and The Grove at Wesley Chapel, both are fairly
new pedestrian-friendly, outdoor village style
shopping centers that have outdoor plazas, sidewalks
and benches. At both you will find large big-name
department stores, specialty shops, high end bars
and restaurants. Traffic
and Driving
While none of the major interstates have an exit
in New Port Richey or Port Richey, both are minutes
from the Veterans Expressway which runs north
to Spring Hill and south into Tampa down to Tampa
International Airport. US Highway 19 which runs
north and south and state roads 52 and 54, both
of which run east and west, are also easily accessible
and run through the area. Schools
Public schools include Longleaf Elementary, Trinity
Elementary, Trinity Oaks Elementary, River Ridge
Middle, Seven Springs Middle, James W. Mitchell
High and River Ridge High. Private schools include
Faith Baptist, Elfers Christian, Genesis Prep
and New Covenant Christian. Colleges and universities
include Pasco-Hernando Community College, Hodges
University, Trinity College of Florida, Destiny
Christian College and Rasmussen College.
Business
The majority of commerce in New Port Richey/Port
Richey is generated by the agriculture (citrus),
retail and healthcare industries. The Downtown
New Port Richey program helps area businesses
expand while staying connected to the community.
The major employers in the area are the school
district, government offices and the Morton Plant
Mease Hospital and Community Hospital. |
