The St. Petersburg
Beach neighborhood offers beach living in proximity
to fantastic shopping and dining and world class
museums as well as nature parks and lots of entertainment.
St. Pete Beach makes up the majority of a six
mile long key, which also includes the historic
community of Pass-a-Grille. St. Pete Beach is
just 25 minutes from Tampa and is close to two
airports. Housing
Housing in St. Pete Beach is made up of many condominiums,
apartments and single family homes in various
sizes and styles. Properties have views of either
the Gulf of Mexico on the east side or Boca Ciega
Bay on the west side. It is important to point
out that Pinellas County also won the “Successful
Community Award” in 2002 for its extensive
programs for improving housing, expanding recreational
opportunities and protecting the environment in
all of its cities, including St. Pete Beach.

To Do
Aside from the gorgeous beaches of St. Pete, Pass-a-Grille
and nearby Treasure Island, St. Pete Beach has
a number of other outdoor attractions including
For Desoto Park, which has been rated America's
#1 beach with 35 miles of white sand beaches along
eight barrier islands. This park is also well
known for its camping and nature walks. On Corey
Avenue, the Beach Theater plays new releases,
independent, foreign, cult classics, and even
free family movies.
Golf courses and country clubs include the private
Isla Del Sol Yacht and Country Club and nearby
public Treasure Bay Golf and Tennis club and private
Treasure Island Yacht and Tennis Club.
Dining and Shopping
Historic Pass-a-grille offers a variety of restaurants
including The Hurricane Restaurant and Sea Critters
Cafe. Restaurants in St Pete Beach include Woody's
Waterfront Cafe, Blue Parrot Bar and Grille Madeleina
Cottage Restaurant, PJ’s oyster Bar, Oscar’s
on 75th, Salt Rock Grille, Frency’s Seafood
and more. There are also many unique shops in
St. Pete Beach, especially on Corey Avenue, which
includes the Gone to The Dogs Boutique and Florida
Jean Company. Additional shopping is available
nearby at Tyrone Square Mall. Traffic
and Driving
Of course, being one of Florida’s most popular
beaches, St. Pete Beach streets can get a little
congested during peak beach season times. Streets
are pedestrian friendly.Gulf Boulevard is the
main street and a smaller network of streets make
up the neighborhoods. Some neighborhood streets
jut into Tampa Bay. I-275 is easily accessible
from St. Pete Beach, when turns into the Sunshine
Skyway Bridge when taken south. Schools
Bear Creek Elementary, Gulfport Elementary, and
Azalea Elementary near by middle and high schools
include Azalea Middle, Madiera Beach Fundamental
Middle and Boca Ciega High. The only school actually
on St. Pete Beach is private St. John Vianney
Catholic School (K-8th grade). Colleges and universities
in the area include University of South Florida
St Petersburg, St Petersburg College, Eckerd College,
Stetson University College of Law and the Poynter
Institute. Business
Much of St. Pete Beach commerce is generated by
tourism, hospitality and retail shopping. There
is also a market residential and commerical construction
and rennovation. |
