Wesley Chapel
is located in Pasco County just about 20 minutes
north of the University of South Florida. Just
a few years ago much of Wesley Chapel was undeveloped
land but has recently begun a period of growth
and expansion resulting in many new restaurants,
shopping centers and new homes, condos and apartments.
This area is great for those who prefer more rural
suburban neighborhoods in close proximity to shopping,
dining, entertainment and is only a short drive
from USF and other parts Tampa. Housing
Because this area has only recently begun to become
developed most of the single family. homes, apartments,
townhomes and condominium communities are new
and feature the best amenities. And because some
of the area is still quite rural there are some
older homes as well. Things
To Do
Most neighborhoods have their own fitness trails
or nature trails and there is also the Wesley
Chapel District Park which features several lighted
athletic fields for baseball and soccer as well
as a few basketball courts and a fitness trail.
There are plans to install a playground for children
with disabilities in this park as well. There
is also access to the 8.5 mile Bruce B Downs paved
multi use trail. This trail also connects to the
much larger network of paved and unpaved trails
in Flatwoods Park.
Golf courses include the public course of Saddlebrook
Resort, Quail Hollow Golf Club and nearby Pebble
Creek Golf Course in north Tampa.
For indoor entertainment there is the Cobb Cinebistro
of Wesley Chapel which offers 16 regular movie
theaters and one that serves fantastic food and
regular and adult beverages, including a full
liquor bar and lounge. Dining
and Shopping
Shoppes at Wiregrass which features Macy’s,
Dillards, JC Penney, Barnes & Noble, White
House Black Market, Pottery Barn and many more.
Dining in this shopping plaza includes Aja, Brass
Tap, 365 Cafe Italiano, Grillsmith, Cosi, Prime
Bar and Red Robin. A new shopping, dining and
entertainment complex called Grove at Wesley Chapel
features stores such as Ulta, Best Buy, Dicks
Sporting Goods and Bed, Bath and Beyond.
Traffic and
Driving
I-75 is located just minutes from almost anywhere
in Wesley Chapel and is the quickest way to get
to USF. While parts of I-75 can get congested
during rush hours, there has been some construction
done to alleviate some of that congestion and
will improve more in the near future. The major
roads in Wesley Chapel are State Road 54 which
travels east toward Zephryhills and west toward
Land O Lakes and State Road 581 which turns into
Bruce B Downs south of Wesley Chapel in Hillsborough
County. Schools
Public schools include Sand Pine Elementary, Seven
Oaks Elementary, Wesley Chapel Elementary, Thomas
Weightman Middle, Dr. John Long Middle, Wiregrass
Ranch High and Wesley Chapel High. Private schools
include Saddlebrook Prep and Victorious Life Academy.
Colleges and universities include University of
South Florida and St. Leo University just to the
northeast in San Antonio. Business
Much of Wesley Chapel’s commerce is generated
by retail stores, hospitality and commercial and
residential development. As this area continues
to grow and expand there will no doubt be a jump
in its economy and business development. |
